First draft of biomass boiler in Guatemala for clean energy generation

Atlantic generating is part of the corporation Agrocaribe, the performance of this new project is to generate clean energy through the installation of a steam plant consists of a boiler and a turbine; which can meet the demand of electrical energy for the Extraction plant of the Atlantic and sold to the grid.

This new project is located in the Atlantic Extractor, the installed boiler burns the following products of the extraction process: rachis (empty cluster, which contained fresh palm fruit oil) and waste shell and fiber. In burning these products, the steam from the boiler will be used to meet the demand of steam required for the extraction of oil and clean power through a turbine capable of producing 4 -6 MW / hr.

Generating Atlantic is electrically interconnected to the National Interconnected System - SNI which are interconnected all generating plants in Guatemala, enabling the production, distribution and consumption of electrical energy generated by the boiler.

Objective:

The Atlantic Generating project has contributed to local employment during construction, machinery maintenance and ongoing operation. The main objectives are: to generate clean energy to the extraction plant through environment friendly technology, sell the surplus to the grid and reduce greenhouse gas.
