Agrocaribe Corporation and the palm oil mill Extractora del Atlántico were certified again for another three years, according to the parameters of sustainable agriculture of Rainforest Alliance. Extractora del Atlántico was first certified under the 'chain of custody' criteria with preserved identity, and the palm oil mill Extractora La Francia was certified for the first time.

This time, not only they verified that sustainable agriculture standards in Agrocaribe are met and improve on, but for the first time confirmed that the chain of custody criteria is entirely fulfilled.

Benefits of obtaining certification:

After the expiration of the validity of the first certification, Agrocaribe opened its doors again to the auditors of the Inter-American Foundation for Tropical Research (FIIT for its initials in Spanish), NGO member of the Sustainable Agricultural Network, which specializes in ensuring sustainability through conservation practices and businesses responsible with the environment.

“Increasingly, consumers and companies want to know about the origin of the agricultural products they buy", notes the organization. “As a cornerstone of any program certification, the Chain of Custody supports the statements made to consumers that products bearing the Rainforest Alliance Certified ™ seal are traceable to Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.”

“It’s all part of the circle of ongoing improvement expanding the importance of maintaining quality standards throughout the lifetime of validity and not only “when we have evaluations”.
