In October last year, Agrocaribe contributed Q100,000 to the municipality of Morales, Izabal, in building materials to finish the bridge Quebrada Grande and facilitate again the access to 14 communities that were left inaccessible due to heavy rains.

Due to the lack of funds of the municipality, the project had not been carried out. This year, the rainy season will not be a problem for the access of these communities that benefit from both trade in the area, and communication with other communities.

This contribution was made possible thanks to the management of the COCODE of Rio Negro and the second level COCODE which represents the communities of Las Nubes, La Ceiba, El Quinto and Rio Negro.

“We appreciate the help Agrocaribe has given us because the communities do not have enough resources to carry out these jobs. Thank God we have a good relationship with Agrocaribe and we could ask them for their support; many of us have our own business and because we didn´t have a bridge, we could not sell our harvests or move to other communities when the rain was very heavy. Thank you, may God bless you”.

Odilo Rosales from the COCODE of Rio Negro

“We are very grateful with Agrocaribe because we have received support from them before and it is a company who lends us their hand. This bridge will be of great benefit to all the communities, cattle ranches, for sales and access to the communities, thank you very much”.

Ana España, representative of the second level COCODE, also thanked the company

The communities served are: Quebrada Grande, Riachuelo, San Jose, San Joaquin, Las Animas, Nueva Esperancita, Rio Negro, Santa Rosita, Esperanza, San Marcos, La Ceiba, Penitas, Ceibita, El Quinto, Buena Vista and Las Nubes.
