Agrocaribe contributes with the traceability protocol of Rainforest Alliance

San Pedro Sula, Honduras, participated investigators, technicians, investors, businessmen and palm sector producers; also Latin American experts from Germany, United Kingdom and United States. The General Manager and the Certifications and Sales Managers participated for Agrocaribe.


Benefits of obtaining certification:

The conference was organized by the Agriculture and Livestock Secretary, the Federation of Palm Growers and the manufacturers of palm oil in Honduras. There were conferences, research work, the progress in the RSPO certification process and technical field tours. The expectation is for the palm sector to achieve certification and to spread information on responsible oil production.

The conferences were about the following topics: national interpretation of the RSPO, certification models, the palm oil market, current situation of RSPO, integral management of the palm, adequate management of the rivers, environmental sustainability, experiences in the RSPO certification process, including palm oil businesses, and others.

“Commented during the conference:We need to bring awareness to the importance of building the route to sustainable palm growing, therefore we can not only look at the economic issue in the operation but we must see the environmental and social issue to guarantee sustainability at the time of investment”.
